Biennale of Venice Egyptian Pavilion
The identity and nature of the Egyptian countryside and specifically ‘Tunis’ Village where the development proposal is taking place; was the main focal point of the design of the proposed urban space. Following the existing geometry and proposing a future vision of the area was achieved by discovering a new method of regenerating a space taking in consideration the existing surrounding urban landscape in which it functions. Taking the whole site as one working system, the process of regenerating will be achieved by the means of putting in mind the urban ethics of the village and reusing the existing geometrical patterns of the existing structure and finally the recycling of the same quantity of the existing building materials to give a new meaning and definition of the space.

"The idea of space definition will be implied by introducing a shading structure crowning the urban structures; with shapes inspired from the existing geometrical pattern and using natural elements such as palm trees for the main structure and wooden beams and robes for the infill of the shade, giving the area a distinct character with the diffused light and shadows and also the pleasant micro climate effects obtained from the wind and the shade."
