Italian Embassy in Doha
The proposal for the redesign of the facades of the Italian Embassy in Doha consisted in the application of a second skin for the existing building, a layer that performs not only aesthetically but also functionally. The geometric composition is is formed by both triangular voids and solids, a series of three dimensional GRC panels give a dynamic image of the building by light reflection and shadow casting, the panels help improve the energetic performance of the building by filtering the harsh summer sun in hot seasons, as well as maintaining a desired level of privacy for the original building openings. The entrance portal is proposed as a huge solid block of Travertine marble. The proposal also suggests a roof garden, an additional pleasant space with a shaded panels system
