LOTUS' CRUX - Expo Milan 2015 Thailand Pavilion

Lotus Crux is a result from a deep analysis done on different natural component : The Big Bamboo of Thailand and the complex Lotus Flower. Since the aim of this project is to create an Expo Milano 2015 pavilion for the Thai culture on food and technology, the space is shaped by a sustainable pavilion. The pavilion is designed as a continuous connector. The spaces included in the program are connected by a continuous path that works as exhibition space and as main circulation.

Project Systems

To create it the process had touched different subjects including chemistry ,life cycle and behavior of the organism used as concept and inspiration. Thanks to the material features we could design a reciprocal
structure able to fulfill our project’s aims: environmental sustainability, reuse of the materials combination with kinetic architecture. Since the Expo’s main topic is “FEEDING THE PLANET” the pavilion provides a rice production area.
The kinetic system set up in the pavilion let it to self regulate the temperature, the ventilation and the solar exposure.
